“I have seen up close how much can be done for the Glory of God, and I have had the intimate satisfaction of being his apostle.” Through his own words, one can summarize the life of Rev. Eduardo Pastor. Born in Pamplona on January 21, 1925, he felt the calling to the priesthood when he was seventeen years old. On July 23, 1950, his dream was realized and he was ordained a priest. After his ordination, he remained in Pamplona were he dedicated part of his vocation to the reparation of temples and artistic works. In 1970, when his friend Xavier Morrás was pastor at St. Michael the Archangel in Miami, Florida, Father Pastor began to spend his “vacation” working at this parish, and twenty-four years later in 1993, he moved permanently to St. Michael. years repairing temples of stone, he now found himself able to dedicate himself wholly to the repair and construction of human temples. The faithful at St. Michael, together with his fellow priests, can describe Father Pastor in only one word: generous. The little material wealth he had he would share with those less fortunate than he. But above this, he shared the great many intellectual and spiritual gifts with which the Lord blessed him. He filled our church with song and joy. And all this he did with the greatest of humility—not for his own exaltation, but for the Glory of God. Those of us who remember him are mournful of the great void he leaves in our parish, but at the same time, we rejoice that this saintly priest has gone to his encounter with the Lord. |

“He visto de cerca cuanto se puede hacer por la Gloria del Señor y he tenido la satisfación íntima de ser su apóstol.” Con sus propias palabras se puede resumir la vida del Rev. Eduardo Pastor. Nacido en Pamplona el 21 de enero de 1925, sintió el llamado al sacerdocio cuando tenía diecisiete años. El dia 23 de julio de 1950, se cumplió su gran sueño y fue ordenado sacerdote. Xavier Morrás era párroco de St. Michael the Archangel en Miami, Florida, el Padre Pastor comenzó a pasar sus “vacaciones” trabajando en esta parroquia y venticuatro años después en 1993, se trasladó permanentemente a St. Michael. En este año, comenzó la segunda etapa de su sacerdocio; después de largos años restaurando templos de piedra, ahora podía dedicarse exclusivamente al reparo y construcción de templos humanos. Los feligreses de St. Michael, junto con sus hermanos sacerdotes, pueden describir al Padre Pastor con una sola palabra: generoso. Los pocos bienes materiales que tenía los compartía con los menos afortunados que él. Pero sobre ésto, compartía los muchos dones intelectuales y espirituales con cuales el Señor lo había bendecido. Llenó nuestra iglesia con canción y alegría. Y todo esto lo hacía con la más profunda humildad—no para elevarse a sí mismo, sinó para la Gloria de Dios. Los que lo recordamos estamos tristes del vacío que deja en nuestra parroquia, pero a la misma vez, gozamos de que este santo sacerdote ya haya ido a su encuentro con el Señor. |
